sr20ve, you think racing before 500 miles on a new clutch is a bad idea? i just had mine replaced 2 days ago, should be able to put a good 200 miles on it by then, but im thinkin as long as i dont do any high rpm clutch burnouts ill be fine? whats your outlook on this?

My outlook is that this last clutch only lasted 6 months and I want this one to last 6 years . I am going to do everything possible to get this right. I am confident that the clutch I got was defective but I am not taking any chances. A good break in would be at least 200 miles of city driving.

Not in the mood to repeat my last three days any time soon. When you start pulling your own transmissions/engines then talk to me about it.

You guys pulling 4 cyls and FWD trannys make me laugh. I need to let you pull a 428 with a top loader 4 speed out of a 68 Mustang sometime. I bet the top loader alone weighs close to your engine and trans combination. We replaced and engine and transmission in the race car one time in just over 30 minutes between sessions at the race track. That was a Boss 302 and top loader.

So why are you not dropping that engine in yourself? My issue is not difficulty. I just dont like getting home at 7-8pm and working on my car, then getting up in the morning and chasing down parts. That is the big pain. Never mind the $550 it cost in total between the rental car and the parts.

Cars I have done clutch's on alone: Volvo 245, Nissan 510 X4, Nissan Sentra (had help on the reinstall). Honesty RWD cars are much easier then most FWD cars IMHO. Never done a american car. Frankly, I can barely pull a spark plug on some of those V8's I worked on. What a pain.

Oh, clutch is in and it feels great. Much better then the old one.
