ok if you don't mind indulging, i've only been able to pick up from the little i've read here... you're in the navy stationed in japan? if you could, find out details about bringing a car over. i have not been able to get a straight answer from anyone about the rules/protocols of owning a car in japan and getting it brought over here.

like dan said i leave here in the first week of deceber, but yes im in the navy...now, when i used to live there we were always given the run around about bringing a car back (its impossible/not worth it/costs too much/etc, but no one ever gave a str8 answer)...it is one of my dreams to be able to become an importer...theres crazy money in it...just have to learn the rules...ill still be on this board when i get there (just SLIGHTLY diff hours lmao)...so ill be happy to research/find out (or attempt to) what needs to be done...just remind me...as w/ parts same thing....i already have people pming me to get them parts...IM NOT THERE YET lol...but used/new parts are NOT hard to come by...and since im in the navy shipping from the usps is ALOT cheaper than japanese couriers....the catch to that is...i can only send things so big....the biggest size wize id say would be like sideskirts/bumpers/etc...but not hoods, doors, etc...so of course smaller parts like turbos, diffs, stereos, shift knobs, etc are all possilbe

wow way to hijack a thread (its my fault really...OH WELL lmao)

it's still somewhat relevant to drifting, so it's not a complete threadjack yet... but yeah i'm in the navy as well and have talked to NUMEROUS people that have been stationed there but have had not a one really know anything about actually importing a car from japan. it'll be nice to have someone who is an authentic import enthusiast BEFORE going to japan (i don't know how many people recognize my car but don't know anything about it other than they saw it in japan, but act like they're huge japanese car enthusiasts) so i'll know they'll take the proper channels to find out exactly what the deal is.

yea i knew i guy who sold used cars (went to auctions etc) and sold cars on ebay for off road use only and he had found the legal way to do it...so i'll have to talk to him...he happens to be the person that i will be buying a car from so hopefully he'll have all the answers I/we need...but like i said he doesnt import them to be driven on the street either...thats left up to the purchaser

we shall see
