Default Cosworth engines.

Anyone ever seen a cosworth engine in the autocross area lately? I met this kid at school that wants me to help him rebuild a cosworth engine. His dad used to race one in the early 90's. I don't know if this would sound familiar to anyone on this board that may have been autoxing for that long. He's rebuilt a cosworth right now with a full rollcage, he hasn't pulled it out in 5 years, but he said I could run it until his son gets his license. I'll take some pics, and post them up next time I get over there sometime next week. Thought I would share..

Sounds like the Cosworth Zitech motor. They have a nice 4 cyl that's used in the Caterham 7's as well as a few other British "kit' style cars.

Tell me what type of car it is in. Is it an open wheel Formula car, A sports racer, a Vega, ??? Cosworth used to make almost all of the engines used in Formula 1 in the late 60's up through the later 80's. During that time they were the engine of choice for most Indy cars. They have been an engine builder for NASCAR, many smaller single set Formula car series, many rallye cars. They built a special engine for the Chevy Vega (yeah really) and have much to do with Escort/ Focus engines. I am sure there are many projects of theirs that I don't even know about. Around autocrossing one of John Sheally's Morgans runs a Cosworth BDA (older Fromula Atlantic engine).

They are not engines that an average engine builder should rebuild.
