Default Breaking it in.

Hey guys, i just bought a 01 lexus is300. I've been messing around with it alot lately and i now have really good feel for it. The thing is im trying to tune it for drifting and i don't know whats best to start the build out with. I already have short-ram intake but thats all atm.

Is it manual? You could start with some suspension mods like coilovers, and wheels.

Got to love replies like this..... Get coil overs and wheels? How will a "coil over" suspension help him? And I bet the car has wheels on it, because if it didn't it would be stupid mod it at all because it would be sitting on its brake rotors.

To the OP if you want to get into any form of motor sports first make sure there are events to go to. I personaly don't see drifting hanging around. See registration for VIR last month... I heard the total was 4. Then ask the people at the events who maybe driving the same car. Not every car setup will work on another. If you want a drift in a box answer throw stupid high springs in the rear and get some shitty tires.... insto drift.

Best of luck

lol good one Fobby. whats funny is to some people would never think of it

my suggestion is get something stiffer for your suspension and try getting loose in the rain to get a feel for it...just dont do it in mid traffic hehe

I don't know much about the is300, but I'm sure there are others that do. I would try some Toyota forums and do some searching.

I would hold off dumping $$$ into it until you improve your driving. Personally I would get some decent street tires and maybe do some auto-x events and build up you car control skills.

Then keep an eye out for drift events that offer on track instruction/seat time. I know they will have one at NASA Hyperfest.

Then, as you get better improve your car as needed.

yeah thats all i did today, the suspension is already pretty stiff. And it very easy to balance. But ill probably get it lowerd and throw in some short-ram intake new tires and Espelir exhaust. then slowly upgrade from there.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

traction control. and yer intake and exhaust won't help you drift. neither will just "lowering" it.

I already do that. And i don't need help drifting i already do it whenever i can, stock. I'm saving up for a jdm t3 turbo kit right now too. I also said above that the suspension is already pretty stiff, and it is very easy to balance. But what did you think i should throw in it?
