Hey, i just got my engine in my 91 civic hatch. I go and hook up the battery i got power and everything. But when I turn the key it don't turn over, I'm thinking bad ground somewhere. I have the ground on the thermastat. I also have the neg. battery grounded tot he tranny, and another ground off that to the body. Could it be the starter? Maybe the solenoid is blown. I am gonna try switching the starter with one I know works. Let me know what you guys think.

Hey guys, I really need some opinions on this situation. I am thinking the computer might be messed up. But not sure, does the computer have to be in good working order for the starter to turn. Also how do you directly connect the battery to the starter. I want to see if the starter is gonna turn over anyway. Let me know guys asap, thanks.
It probubly is the little wire that connects to the starter too. Not the power wire the other one. That might not be connected. Or if that is connected try to tap the starter with something like a hamer and if it does start then it is the starter.

I made sure that was nice and tightly connected, aswell as the power wire. I tried starting it after hitting the starter with a hammer and all it does is clicks. So let me know what you think, need this running asap, thanks.
take the starter off and take it to advance or somewhere to get it tested. How bout that? you can use your old ecu to turn over the car too. Might not start but the signals are the same.

well if it was a si it will run fine with the old ecu. if it is clicking it is probubly a bad starter. you can just use your old one if you still have it to verify that is the problem.
Your battery is dead. Seriously. Your interior lights will come on just fine, but if they go out or dim a LOT when you try cranking the car, then it's a simple battery problem.
The best test is turning on the headlights. See how bright they are before trying to start the car, then check them after. If they are dim or out, it's the battery.
You see, the Amps required for the lights and stuff are nothing compared to the current required to turn the starter over, so there's just enough charge to make you think it's ok...but really there's not. Get a jump and see how it does.
