You shouldn't need a code reader for an OBD 1 system. There should be a short to give you codes on the check engine in the dash. Refrence your manuels.

there is a little conector under the glovebox. you have get a piece of wire or a paper clip and connect the two holes. then turn your key to the on position and it will flash codes.

yeah...thanks

itd be great if i knew how to read codes on my own car. i work with bmws...and drive a honda. big jump between the 2.

cel codes
reading codes


Once you've done your diagnostics, you clear the code by either removing the neg battery terminal or pulling a backup/radio fuse (in ek's its in the engine bay, closest to the firewall, second from the left).
