whats wrong
i am still looking for a tranny for my subaru. i may have found one but check out this discription and tell me what you think the prob is.
(You are bidding on a rebuilt 2004 Subaru Impreza Wrx 5 speed transmission. This transmission has had gears 1-5 replaced as well as new bearings and synchros. This transmission also has a upgraded front LSD (limited slip differencial). Although the trannny has been rebuilt, the is a slight problem with this transmission. When shifting from 1st to reverse, the tranny will lock up into 1st gear. I do not have the time or the mechanics to diagnose and fix the problem. Because of this i ordered a new transmission and now have to sell this one. Transmission comes assembled with shift fork, dip stick and o2 sensor wire. Any questions please contact me via ebay! any ideas?
Probably a backwards (or improperly installed/aligned) selector linkage/fork to select the drop (reverse) gear. Probably a simple fix, but it sounds like whoever did the work didn't know what they were doing, so stay away.
