I have 02 gt convertible with a rod knocking that has just worsened. The time to purchase a new engine has come and am looking for suggestions.

I have $5000 total to spend on this.

Like the title said, what would you do? I am open to just about anything. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

 

i'd buy a big block 460 and call it a day...thats what i had in my old foxbody...i had intake mani throttle body cam headers and exhaust and ran an 11.43 in the quarter...lovedd it

 

you looking to get a used engine?

 

I would buy an aluminum block(can be had for 400 bucks) and put a big bore kit on it and that will wake up the car. VT makes a good big bore kit.

Another option is finding a used mach 1 motor or 01 cobra motor(3500+)
