what type of tire?
So i had a blow out on my rear tire the other night. Its a 225/40/18 on a 9.5. So it is a little stretched, the brand is Quantum. The reason i picked up these tires is because they have the rubber lip protector thing on the tire. Its where the tire has a little lip that extends just a bit past the lip of the rim.
Well any ways i got a sumitumo tire last night and its not the same, it s the same size but it doesn't have that lip thing, it exposes the rim.
see below for pic.
So basically my question now is what tire has that little lip thing? i think it looks better and it does work.!
I heard falken has that set up but im not sure. thanks for any and all help.
the one with the lip

the one with out.

You have 225s on 9.5" wheels. Not much is going to protect your lip, you need some tires that are the right width. I usually run 225s on 8" wide wheels, nothing wider.
Go look at Tirerack.com, they have pictures and you can see which wheels have rim protectors. They also sell tires that are the right width.

A lot of tires have that lip on them. I know for a fact that bridgestone potenza's have them and so do BF goodrich KDW's. Granted the KDW is a really expensive summer tire. Other than that, I would visit the manufacturer's website. Typically they will tell you about features like that.
so you have three tires left on your car....quantums i think you said...
well the logical thing to do would be to order a quantum to replace it with....that way all four tires match

Get a pair if you do that, then you'll have a matching pair on each end at least. Having two different tire diameters (worn and new) on the front can cause problems with ABS brakes and can wear out CV joints faster than normal.
The only thing quantum should be leep.
I would get some real tires man. There are soooooo many tires to go with. The best to stretch..
Toyo t1-S & falken fk451
U buy cheap tires your going to pay end the end.
