i turn the key and all i get is a click.
the car doesnt even try and turn over. i get nothing

so i change the starter turn the key and nothing nothing.
all i get is a click, i dont loose power i just get a click.

any thoughts...

 

do you hear the starter engaging?

 

im tryin to think of what this is cause i remember my car doing the same sort of thing once.

 

Is your battery dead? Do all your accessories worK?

my tac needle jumps a little
but thats it. i wonder ir its the ignition wire

 

Could be your main relay, or one of the wires going to it. The click you hear may be the relay closing, so that may not be it. But you may not be getting power to or from the relay to the starter. You don't hear the starter spooling but not engaging or anything wierd like that, do you? It should be something with the starter circuit, shouldn't have anything to do with engine stuff (ignition, ECU, etc.) at all.
Do you have any fusible links anywhere that may be blown, like the big high current ones in the engine bay that supply starter power..?

 

check the ground on the transmission

 

also, i have towed a car into my shop for repair because it was doing the same thing, it turned out to be that the engine is locked up. i hate to scare you with that but try putting a half inch ratchet on the crank bolt and see if the engine turns.

 

How do your battery posts look? My car does that sometimes if there's not a good connection on the posts.

we un pluged it and it started right up...
