Default Warped head

The head is warped on my 91 camry. I bought another head from pick and pull today, it came out of a wrecked car, so I have a pretty good idea that the engine was in running order before it got there.

The question is, Should I have the head magnaflux checked anyway? The car overheated and popped the head gasket and then i guess warped the head when my wifes uncle put water in it when it was hot. Should I worry about the block? Its an iron block, aluminum head. I don't want to put this car back together AGAIN and have another blown head gasket.

Thanks in advance.

You cannot magnaflux aluminum. Is the original one warped that badly where it cannot be milled?

Just take it to The HEAD SHOP there off london bridge, they'll charge you 90 dollars to pressure test/vacuum check and resurface it.

I guess it did. I put it all back together with a new head gasket and it still forces water out of the radiator when I push the accelerator. It also runs worse than it did before I changed the head gasket

Is that the actual name of the place? The Head shop?

No, it doesn't need to be warped "badly" for that to happen, considering the forces that are in the cylinders and water jackets. When changing a head gasket, a block and head should be checked for flatness at the very least. In more than most cases the block should be decked and the head milled. If you're looking for just a quick fix (sounds like it), then get a multi-layer steel headgasket, use some copper spray on both sides, get the head checked at the very least and slap it all together. Then use some Bars products. i mean, this is the real deep woods way of doing it, I really don't recommend this but..

Yep, that's the actual name of the shop. Doesn't get more obvious than that for us motorheads, to the non-motorheads though, lolz..
