But I'm gonna actually have mine serviced. I can just imagine getting into a serious accident that dislocates my face, and insurance not covering it because my airbag needed servicing.
Extreme example, I'm sure, but the damn thing saves lives, I'm taking rapage from VW to fix mine.

carefull with pulling that bulb, they can fail you for that too, the book states that the light must function properly meaning it must light up during the self check when you start up. but most people wouldnt notice it unless it was on. mike what you probably have a code in your air bag control module for a side air bag(the ones that are in the two front seats) this is the code ive seen the most on mkiv jettas, the resistance of the air bag ignitor gets too high so the computer(which has a built in ohm meter) thinks there is a fault in the ignitor or circuit. the computer decides that this problem could result in the air bag not going off so it turns on the light to let you know(and state inspectors). you should get it fixed air bags will save your life, but if moneys tight, and if it is a side airbag code, you can re-code the computer to think that it doesnt have side air bags using a VAG-COM scan tool, look it up on vwvortex.com
