on domestics, the higher the timing, the more power...... should be the same on imports N/A ......

i went from stock timing to 14 degrees, and i felt a huge difference.

I wouldn't worry so much about timing. Worry about fuel and knock if you get plenty comfortable with them then play with timing.

Timing depends mostly on the type of gas you are running. Race fuel likes more timing cause it burns colder/longer. Pump likes less cause its opposite of above.

I talked to buschur after dynoing one of his buddies cars. I asked him how much timing it made 606 hp at and his answer was "I don't know it didn't knock thats all I care." He wasn't doing any of the tuning or I'm sure he would have known.

depends on the setup and what the motor likes. no definite answer to that one...but generally the more timing advance you can throw at a motor w/out it knocking/detonating the more power you will make...

If you increase timing, find the lowest octane fuel you can that will not cause any KR.

what, it can be advanced until engine knock gets out of control. i know for dsm;s a certain amout of knock is generally goin to happen and is normal, but you dont want it to get out of hand

Normal? I would not accept ANY amount of Knock. More timing=more power, its that simple really.

I was always under the impression that if the PCM/ECU whatever you wanna call them detects ANY knock, it will immediately retard the timing. Hell, if you have KR and its not retarding the timing...you're driving a ticking time bomb.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but heres my question. Will increased timing cause the coolant temps to increase?
