tranny problem

Unhappy tranny problem

i need help, keep blowing the tailshaft rear seal on the tranny, it leaks after driving a little while, i have the 2 peice driveshaft and a 350sb/turbo350 tranny. what do i have to do o fix this?

did you put grease on the seal where it contacts the drive shaft?

Make sure the correct amount of fulid is in also, too much fulid can blow out seals.

its not too much fluid, checked it when warm, but did not put grease on it, will try that, thanks!

the seal is lubricated by the trans oil, if you dont put grease on the seal and/or shaft where it contacts the seal, the dry seal will burn up before the oil reaches it.

there is a bushing that comes with the seal kit, but i dont know how to get the old one out, it looks like a small diameter exhaust tubing about 2" long, and the driveshaft yoke is about 3" away from the tailshaft. it is a 2 piece driveshaft with the carrier bearing and axle in the stock locations, the driveshaft is about 2 or 3 degrees from the carrier to the rear axle.
