Default Tire size for a Del Sol?

Hi All

I've got a Honda Del Sol VTEC that needs some new wheels and tires (slightly bent one of my 17's). I've pretty much decided on a set of 16x7 wheels to save weight, and I really am liking the praise I hear about Falken Azenis sports.

But I've got a question about the tire sizing.

Falken only has a 215/45/16 size. Most other brands offer 205/40 and 205/45 series.

Will 215's sit ok on the Del Sol, or would I be better off getting a 205 series tires? Also, are 40 or 45 sidewalls recommended?

Other brand suggestions are appreciated and welcomed. I need a good combo of daily driver / auto-x tire.

-Travis

215's are slightly wider. the first number is the width of the tire (in mm i believe)...the second number is the the height of the tire in percentage of the width. whatever rims you buy, look ahead of time to see which tire sizes will fit the rim. generally, the higher the second number...the worse the tire handles in turns (because of sidewall flex)...but the falken's are damn good tires so i would def. stick with those. car should ride a little better anyways w/ the slightly higher sidewall, and i believe the falken sidewalls are fairly stiff as well.

i've got 215/35/18 and they rub the inner part of the fender when you turn the wheel all the way.... but maybe that could also be because of my wheel size.

Thanks for the offer, noreverse... I've got them on the way already though! ahh well.

Basically I am wondering if the 215/45's will fit on the 'Sol with about a 2" drop. I might just have to go conservative and get the 205/40/16 Kumho Ecsta Supras locally.

They should fit fine. I have 15's on my sol with a 2.3 inch drop and no rub at all with extra room to spare.

16x7 Full Royal (polished) Rota Slipstream, 13.5lbs. each

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 205/40/16. We'll see how they work at the autox. The car rides much better than it did on 19lb. 17's.
