Default Tire: "eff you, i'm going flat for no reason"

uhm, okay, my tire just went flat. no warning, no precursor. Just riding down 64 i notice that the steering feels rather un-responsive. i give it a wiggle, and the d/s front tire just FAILS. luckily for me, i drive an 80's car with an 80R13 series tire, and not only are they cheap, they're tough. NO external signs of damage. at all. the tire looks perfect, just... deflated.

Now, my question:

WHY THE FUCK DID IT GO FLAT!?

There are no punctures that i can see, no blisters, cuts, scratches, cracks, and the bead is still where it belongs.

wtf? what should i look for?

Anyone see me failing on 64 WB at about MM 254?

Fill that bitch up with air...Spray that shit down with soap... and MAGIC! the leak has been found! (after checking the stem of course and the rim for damage)

if that doesn't work, inflate tire, submerge rim and tire under water, you will see bubbles coming from somewhere.

The stem is split. Taking it to the tire place to get it replaced (for free i would hope). split right at its base. Ever had a tire taller than it is wide go flat at highway speeds? really throws the balance of the car off...

Thanks folk,
