Soooo..bought this car used at 96k miles 2 months ago completely stock. EVerything worked perfect, got an oil change shortly after and had it checked up. Other than needing new brakes and new air filter, it was good to go. Well, lately, something weird has been happening and it just got worse today. I been cruising on the highway and I notice a slight jerk. Like the car lurches a lil bit, like when you're about to stall but it keeps going. Its just like a quick jerk and then just keeps rolling. Happens every once in awhile.

Then today, it was doing the same thing, but harder this time. And I was sitting at a redlight, with the car in neutral and foot off all the pedals, just chilling at the light. The car sputters like it does when its about to stall and when i look down, the battery light flashes on, the car shakes a lil bit, the light goes off, then back on and it stalls. I start the car again and its fine....i drive like 5 miles and the car sputters again. WHen i gas it, it stops, and goes back to being normal. Then, on the way home today, i was in my neighbordhood street and was going about 25 in 3rd. Downshifted to second and slowed down as i approached an intersection and then reached a stop sign where i put it into neutral and braked. But after it was in neutral and I braked, the car sputtered and stalled out. I started it back up and it was fine.


Now i have no idea wtf is wrong...anyone have any ideas as to what might the problem be??

Is it throwing any codes?

could be a couple of things i think..... Loose ground or alternator going bad. I would check that first, Also like stated above see if you're throwing any codes.

Or it could be that it's just a Civic.


But remember, according to the majority of people on VaDriven, Honda's are mroe reliable then domestics

Its completely stock...nothing done to it. 3rd Owner, Dailey Driven. Clutch was replaced around 80,000 something miles, all the belts and fuilds changed at around 90,000 miles. Basically maintence up to par. Now what do you guys mean when you ask if its throwing codes?

Stock D16y8. Honda Civic Ex Coupe. Right now, there 102,XXX miles. Thats it. It looks like it came right off the factory floor. Clean title, nothing removed, changed (besides things that were changed during maintenence) and etc. Its all stock. I need to know whats wrong before it shits out on my on the highway, and i dont know if you've ever seen a california highway, but thats scary!

Plus, just having moved out here, I dont know anyone and dont have money lying around like that to go to a shop and just pay for an estimate.
