i have a 2001 acura tl with 2 12's and a 600w amp. ever since putting these in the car battery dies if i leave the lights on for Just A MINUTE without the car running. im getting it fully charged for the first time since this started hapeening
do i need one of those high output alternators or shud the battery charge suffice?

Make sure you have a decent battery, if you haven't replaced it recently it might not have enough capacity to do what you need. Your stock alternator should be fine for that amp, it's only 600W and it isn't putting that out continuously anyway. Spend a little cash and get something like an Optima red top battery, they last forever and work great for small car audio applications like you have.
A cap won't help your problems with battery drain/charge, you're still drawing the same current vs. time whether you have a cap or not. Caps don't magically generate current, they just store it short term.

+1, it sounds like the battery. Standard batteries have caps on the top. You can take off the caps and see the level of your acid. If it's low, you can add distilled water and bring the acid level up. This might save your battery, and increase its life. If it doesnt help, go out and get an optima red top.
