nissan sr motors you have to shim to adjust the valves it isn't a quick process like hondas...it actually involves math also you might have a lifter that needs re-bled which is easy to do if you know what your doing thats quite likly since you were out of oil most of the time they are good about bringing themselves back up but there are those rare occasions where they need to be manually done.

i have a very similar issue in my vq35de, ive been told its a lifter but who knowssss.
started about 2 months ago but hasnt affected anything YET. been checking the oil religiosly and everything seems alrite.

luckily still got the warrnety on it so itll be in the shop next week
