Default sr20det problem.

hey so i bought a 96 240sx with a s14 sr20det swap in it and im driving down 17 going to ecity nc.. so on that long stretch im just driving normal and then started to lose power and it was getting harder to keep up with traffic..then i look over at the temp and im very close if not in the HOT part.. so i pull over and smoke was coming from my overflow tank and water was boiling .. only thing that was under the car was lil bit of water.. so i pulled the dip stick and i maybe had 1/5 qt of oil in it. so i added oil and now its still not running right. oil light keeps going on and off.. a tap noice is coming from the engine when i push the accel. and now when i push the clutch in the cars power goes low or off... but when the cars at idle its fine .. no sound problems no power issues.. and idles just fine... idk what i did to it or what is wrong..all i know is i cant drive it

Over heating and loss of oil? The oil has to be going somewhere.... maybe in the cooling system? more information please

Sounds like someone needs to do a compression test.

yea there seems to be a problem with the cooling system cuz even with oil in it over time it will start to overheat and my rad. overflow tank will start to have water that is boiling .. and i think im not getting power cuz of a turbo leak and im not sure where to start looking for that without taking the system apart and putting it back together.. but this is also my first turbo charged car and i dont want to mess it up by my lack of knowing how to take it apart. also my first car that isnt a honda civic or integra.. lol

Change your thermostat and or water pump.... most of the time with a bad waterpump the radiator fluid will drip from the weep hole on the pump itself. if the pump fails then your vehicle will over heat. FYI, on all swaps it's best to replace the typical wear items such as the waterpump, thermostat, gaskets and seals, cooling hoses and lines, oil and filter, vacuum lines, and belts.
