Default slight clunking sound(front end)

Alright... this seems to be a small problem as i just noticed it...

I drive a 97 sentra gxe and tonight while driving my girlfriend home i noticed a slight clunking sound when I gave my car a little(or a lot) of gas from a complete stop.

Any ideas on what it might be?

Is it repetitive and in relation to engine speed, or is it just a "clunk" right at the time you hit the throttle?

If it's the latter, you probably have a broken motor/tranny mount and the whole assembly is shifting when torqued.

It just seems to be right at the moment of hitting the gas.

Probably the mounts then. Your best bet is to go somewhere barren and safe, prop the hood open, and WATCH the engine to see if it shifts significantly.

Is the car lowered? It could be coilovers.

THat would be more affected by turning or hitting bumps, not right when under early acceleration.

No, no it's not.

edit- Alright, it's not a motor mount. I jacked my car up today and took a look at the cv joint on the driver side. The boot covering the joint has an extreme tear in it about 2.5 inches long. So I'm thinking the cv joint is the problem now.
