serious thought
ok ive been putting some serious thought into what im going to do to my gsr teg..... and im leaning towards all motor. What would be a good starting point on an all motor setup other than bolt ons(or should i get all the bolt ons first and then build the internals? any/all advice is will help thanx.
all motor?
turbo?
which one would be more reliable in the end as well?

well...your budget will determine the level you can achieve. Start with intake, header, and exhaust... get a good grounding system (hot earth system is a good suggestion), then get some good spark plugs, and plug wires. Upgrade to synthetic oil if you havent already at this point. then get a new intake manifold, and the hondata intake manifold gasket. Then get your head upgraded: port+polish, good valvesprings + retainers, and a valve job...and finally a set of badass cams, say Buddy Club Spec IV's mated with some cam gears....and while your at it, get the head milled to raise compression. Switch to a heavy gear oil, and get a lightweight flywheel:you should be sitting pretty at this point...
if you want to go even further, you could get some new rods, get the crank micropolished, and knife edged. high dome pistons wouldnt hurt either.... hope this helped.

a helluva lot more than just helped
how much should that run me up until the cams?? i know for a fact all im doing in suspension work right now is possibly a 2 in drop and thats it....nothing else but into the motor

a lot. all motor builds arent cheap. and really crazy ones are about as reliable as turbo setups. do a loooooot of research before you start to do anything. you should pretty much pick out your whole setup before you even start buying shit.

i planned on it. i have the intake and exaust picked out..... and a dc header that im going to get the exaust cut down so it will fit. its for a 95 gsr i think....just a little long for this model(2001)
to me turbo kits are bottomless pits. I know not one person with a turbo'd honda that is ever NOT replacing/breaking something. i havent seen a boosted honda that would ever convince me to go turbo... to me the bads outweigh the goods. I would rather have reliable, on tap power without worrying about all the variables that come with turbo'ing a car.
