Searched and can't find answer :dunno:
I have a '04 WRX w/STi block. Found out today (called dealer) my ECU is '02-'03 WRX. Talked with a Subaru tuner today who says to have an STi block I must have an STi ECU b'c the wiring is different. Not sure if the heads are STi or not. I'm running WRX intake mani. How's my car running so well?
MOD list:
Borla header
STi block
STi TMIC
STi pinks
VF34
Cobb TBE
Lightened Crank Pulley
Could it be possible I have an entire STi engine with WRX intake mani? WRX intake mani would be the only necessary piece on an STi engine in a WRX to avoid using electronic controlled throttle? Otherwise it could have the STi heads as well, correct?

^Thanks...Yes, been looking there too. Can't find a definitive answer. Checking in here to see if anyone may be able to shed more light as well.

it likely has just an EJ25 block with EJ20 heads. you can run a standard ECU with the STi engine, however the valve timing will be funky and you have to lock out the cams.
look for the valve solenoid, it will be on the left head (and right one also, but its easier to see on the left one) there is a metal line that runs off of it to the backside of the head for the oil feed. the solenoid will be on the front side of the intake, the TGV's are on the rear of the intake manifold.

Dyno Inc., I'm not sure about AVCS. The previous owner turned out to be military who's back in Mainland with an MR. WRX was purchased in NY and arrived here via PCS. That's all I could dig up. Turns out Vakamon worked on the car, but did not actually do the swap (f*ing great ). My search for the owner and worklog ended there. Almost back to sq.1.

AVCS=the solenoid i talked about. there are two different actuators on them, one is the tumble generator valves in the intake manifold, the other is the AVCS solenoid that controls the variable cam timing, and its on the head.
