I am just now learning about 240SX. Mainly the 95-96 (S14) ones. I was looking at some for a next project car. Since the S15 is more powerful than the S14 and its 6 speed, I was wondering if a S15 would directly fit into the S14 Chassis? Would I have to modify anything to make it? Thanks

 

The S15 six speed is extremely weak, the S14 sr20det is the best tranny to use plus the S15 speedometer is read off the rear diff not the tranny, you can convert the body over, front end and rear end, the powerplant is awesome but best bet is to stick with the S14 tranny.

not in a stockish application. In a high hp abuse application yes they break. but for a street car and most of what this guy plans to use it for if he's just learning 240s, he'll be fine with it.

Well, when me and my buddies did the swap in their S13 his S15 tranny broke at 400WHP, replaced it with a S14 tranny and hasnt been a problem since.

 

what gear and what was he doing?

i've heard people say S13 trannies are weak. i've never broken one.

 

well if im going to do a project im going to build the motor then drop it in. i was hoping for 350hp or more. but nothing over 500hp. thats a little to much for what i need. i would loose control doing something stupid and wreck it.
