I recently bought an 89 240sx. The car has a 92 KA24de in it. As of right now the Tach, Speedo, and Cruise Control does'nt work. I have already ordered a DOHC cluster for it. I know this will take care of the tach. Not so sure about the Speedo, but i am not really worried about that at this second. My main question is- Is it possible to keep cruise control with the dohc swap and what must be done? Thanks in advance.

 

I'm sure it would be, is your cruise control throttle cable there? Do you know if all the electronics are in working order before the swap was done?

 

Really not sure. I haven't really had anytime to get in there and look at anything. Unfortanatly i bought the car swapped, so i don't know if it is in working order.

 

speed sensor perhaps, its a sensor toward the rear of the trans w/a hose like thing attached

 

I think it all has to do with the cruise control cables, I remember coming across this a while back looking for swap info..
For the speedo, check speed sensor.. I can't think of any reason the speedo shouldn't work. I just bought a 90 240 with a DE swap and the speedo works fine. Check the wiring changes around the ECU, chances are they aren't done or aren't done right..

 

Check your speed sensor wire.. i think it should be a yellow wire with green strip or somthing similar..

 

The new cluster will take care of the tach, and like everyone else has said the speed sensor (cylinder on rear of tranny) will take care of the speedo. I jus finished(hopefully) the DE swap and it looks like the cruise control should be able to be kept if you jus bend that bracket up a little bit. Not 100% sure tho.

speedo and tach will work with DOHC cluster and CC will work given you can make the cable reach.

 

so can one explain why my tach goes crazy around 5-6k??

 

what does it do... do u have those aftermarket gauge faceplate thingys?
