Just wondering since this girl at this import performance shop was telling me that a Factory turbo car, like a DSM with the turbo removed will damage the motor.

it'll run pretty slow and everything. but like Cha said, long as the oil and coolant lines are plugged, there's no problem.

If the engine was designed with a turbo then it is *possible* you can damage SOME CARS by removing the turbo only and changing nothing else. Most likely it will be ok but just run like a POS.
CR will be too low. Intake ports will be too small. Exhaust ports too big. Valve Timing and ignition timing will also be off. It's not going to be a very good burn in the chamber either.
If you absolutely had to run it this way get the lowest octane gas you can find and advance the timing a bit to compensate.

Isn't ignition timing controlled by MAF and/or and MAP?
Isn't valve timing controlled by the belt on a non VVT motor?

on my car, timing is retarded by a device called a Vacuum Advance. as boost rises, it holds vacuum in the system and retards the timing accordingly. also, Starions can be run with or without turbos. the G54B is in the Mighty Max trucks and 80s Caravans. same block, same head, same CR.

If you remove the turbo completely you will not have a problem, the car will be slow ass piss, but no harm done. If you have dead turbo, that is what can cause problems, like pieces of the the compressor wheel might chip off and get sucked into the motor and things of that nature.

well also does it have lower compression pistons still? running 8 and 9 flat compression pistons will just bog the motor cuz theres no boost
