Default RETARDING TIMING FOR BOOST?

I heard that for every 2-3 pounds of boost you shoud retard your timing one degree.

Is this true. If so explain why please.

You need to give us a little more info about your setup. As diffrent setups require diffrent timing.

FACTORY SPECS
F22a1
compression 8:8:1
130-135 bhp
145 torque

The turbo set up is DSM everything and factory 1gen eclipse parts
I hope thats enough info to tell

i would use S-AFC for air/fuel and the adjustable cam gear on my SOHC motor for the timing.

I just wanna know what are some basic reason people retard timing for boost

no you have it completely wrong. People are talking about ignition timing..not cam timing. If you retard your cam timing 1 deg for ever 2-3psi your car is gonna feel like complete ass hole and depending on how much you are running you may do some serious damage . You cant retard your ignition timing like that with the safc setup unless you retard the actual distributor which again will make your car run like shit out of boost. Or you can run the msd btm which can retard a set degree per psi. Honestly though the afc is a hack setup and i would never recommend it to anyone. Look into getting a chipped ecu and getting it tuned.
