buddy, use an air compressor, if you don't got one, buy one, all you need is a 12 gallon, 6hp compressor. With a descent air gun.

Put the timing belt back on and hold the crank bolt while you remove the cam bolt.

Get a really long breaker bar preferably a 1/2 or 3/4 with a 19mm socket. have a friend hold it or have it be againsnt something so it doesnt move, then remove the camshaft bolt.

this is g2 ls-vtec: what are the chances of the cam gear skipping a tooth with the timing belt?

i believe its impossible unless something is seriously wrong with the belt or teeth on the gears, but thats real hard to see without the belt breaking first

even the bearing in the distributor can cause the belt to slip when it starts to bind, but that's when the car's running....just an example

well, the cam gear slipped and skipped a few teeth while trying to loosen the bolt with a breaker bar, i previously put the timing belt back on a few days before, one factor may be that the tension wasn't enough, but does anyone have anymore ideas?

i hope prying against the camshaft with a screwdriver is not what caused it to snap. that can scar the shit out of your lobes and cause some real wear in your valvetrain.

but seriously, save yourself a whole lot of trouble and go buy a compressor and impact.
