Default Quick tire size question

I was looking at the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's to put on my 02 GMC Sierra. The current factory size tires are 275/75/16's and from checking the capability of my truck on their website. It said "This part is not compatible with 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 HD" The only size tires they offer in the Grappler that's close to mine is LT285/75/16. I'm not too sure what the LT stands for, and since they are only slightly wider than the existing tire I think that they would mount just fine on the OEM rim.

So will they work? Or do I have to buy rims that will accomadate the tires I'm looking at?

The LT stands for light truck. This just means the tire can hold more weight. Most of the time they come on 2500 or bigger. As fare as 275 vs 285. I think it will look just like the pic you posted. Just a little tire Swell just passed the wheel. Should look pretty sweet.

check the load rating before you buy. If you tow or haul anything with the truck, that will matter alot.

This. For sure. The 275 vs 285 is the width of the tire

Oh one more thing. When you mount these tires. Make sure they install high pressure valve stems. Lt tire pressure usually runs between 50-110 psi. It will say on the sidewall of the tire. A lt235/65/16 with a g load rating could hold 3750 at 110 psi, per tire.

Never seen a tire call for 110 pounds of air. Even the 1 ton rear end in the cummins, powerstroke, and duramax. They call for 80 pounds in the rear and 55-70 in the front.

I would say dont do it. Put 45 lbs of air in the tires you have now and see how shitty the ride is. Then think of a tire with 70lbs of air in it. If it were a full size truck you were hauling with sure. But just for a dd truck no way. Just look it up directly by size on tire rack. Fuck putting what vehicle they're going on they're just gonna let you chose between shitty sizes.

In the transit fleet i work for. We have three HD2500 duallies, and two E350 duallies. All of there tires are rated to be at 120psi cold. I don't know if its because, they are body on chassis, and not trucks.
Like dough boy said. Your ride quality is going to be shitty. If your going for the look and don't care how she rides. Go for, I think these tires will look great on your truck. They may not even ride that bad on low tire pressure. They will just ware in f-ed up patterns. Good luck. Post pics of what you end up gong with.

Are you looking at the max inflation pressure on the sidewall?

No max is 135. You have to set tire pressure to the weight you will be hauling. 120 is what Goodyear recommended for a 21 passanger body on chassis bus. Which is the 2500 or the e350 cabs, with the bus body on frame.
