ok i just have a quick question, im about to swap a master cylinder and i was going to get some of those earls self bleeder valves for the bleed nipples because I hate bleeding brakes. but I was wondering, since they are all one way valves could i just open them all up and run a tube from each to a bucket and bleed them all at one time? or do they have to be done one at a time?

you can hook tubes up to the niples and bleed them at the same time...

 

it takes 30mins... take the time do it right its your brakes man!

 

I mean it sounds like theoretically it would work...but having to cut the right lengths of tubing and worry about closing all the valves before your brake fluid in the reservoir runs dry just seems like more trouble than its worth. I would seriously just do them individually.

 

Do it one corner at a time. That way you're sure of getting all the fluid flushed and bled at each corner, instead of doing all corners at once and not knowing if it's done completely. Having all corners open at once will give you problems with pressure drop because of the fittings, line length, etc. Not a problem at brake line pressure, but it will be a problem at the much lower bleeding pressure.

Also look up (or look in the factory service manual) the correct order for bleeding. You shouldn't just randomly bleed all of the corners, there is usually a certain order because of the reasons I listed earlier (length, junctions, etc).

Do it right, it only take a few more minutes and it's really easy to do.

 

I was once told that you want to bleed the caliper farthest from the master cylinder (rear right) and then go in order from there.

 

That all depends on how/where the lines are run and where the ABS valvebody is. My WRX has a strange and non-intuitive bleed order, as do a few other cars I've worked on.
Sometimes the right rear is not the farthest point..

 

o shit i must have read it wrong... I thought he was going to bleed the master cylinder only.. Yeah best bet is to start at the wheel farthest from the MC "back passenger" then work it to the back driver then front passenger then front driver...but check out your service book first

 

alright, i haved bleed brakes a many of times but i was just wondering if it could be done this way to make it quick and easy. nobody seems to know the proper order to bleed civic/crxs anyways though so i usually just start with rr

 

Anything that old you should be able to do farthest first. I don't think it has ABS, so that is out of the equation. You should be fine.
