quick question

Default quick question

i have a 00 dx 5sp and i need my passenger ball joint replaced because i busted it when my dumb ass used a pickle fork to seperate it when i was replacing the clutch but anyways the upper ball joint isnt busted but when i try to take the castle nut off it spins the whole stud that goes through the joint soo my question is do i have to take the whole upper control arm off to swap my LBJ or is there a way i can get the nut off with out taking the upper control arm off that i dont know about? any help would be nice because im trying to get my baby back on the road ASAP thanks all who helps

if you have access to an impact gun and a pry bar,position the pry bar so you can apply pressure pushing the balljoint down into the control arm(may need an extra set of hands too)then while its got pressure on it,try to bust it loose(you can get it with ratchet).but if you do get it off,it's going to be just as hard to put back together,may want to replace anyway.hope this helps you,old head at my shop taught me this n it usally works,trick is getting a good position and bite with the pry bar,the longer the more force you can get,and you need a good bit.good luck
