i would loike to know if putting a gsr head on a b16a block, would be good ?

 

it will work. Will raise the compresion up like .2 i think, although the gsr head is said not to flow as good as the b16.

If you flow test the two heads on a flow bench, the GSR may flow slightly less in stock form. However, all tests I've seen were within the margin of error for the test. There is very little difference in airflow between the two heads in stock form.

The GSR has a slightly smaller combustion chamber. 41.6cc, versus the B16 head at 42.7cc. This is what causes the increase in compression with the GSR head. It should also be noted, that while the B16 uses a "swirl-port" design, in which the airflow is designed to swirl, to help promote velocity and suspension of the fuel, as well as filling of the combustion chamber, the GSR uses a more modern "tumble" design, similar to the K-series, as well as other manufacturers' engines. Which is better? That's a heck of a good question!

The GSR is a direct bolt-on, and should work in any application where the B16 would work. Fully race ported, or stock, they have very similar airflow #'s. And both generally make very similar power in both trims. So, as to one or the other being better, not really much difference, and most would say they are interchangeable.

I'm not an expert, so forgive me if this explanation sounds stupid. But cylinder heads can flow a certain amount of air through them in a given time. The b16 head can flow more air through it than the b18, based on the size of the ports in the head.

If I'm wrong or misguided, I'm sure somebody will step in with a better logic.

gsr and b16 intake manifolds are different, only thing i know of thats not interchangable. Besides timing belt covers..
