Default Piston Differences (DSM)

I was wondering if you could directly swap pistons from a 1g turbo Talon to a Non turbo in order to lower compression, or if there is something that won't allow you to do that, I have an ESI that I boosted, and I am doing a whole engine rebuild and wanted to lower my compression a touch..
thanks

First off, do you know if you have the 6 bolt or 7 bolt motor? If you have a 7 bolt, the 2G pistons have the same wrist pins I believe and you can swap them out. It may be the same for the 1G but dont quote me on it because every person that has replaced the stock 9.0CR pistons has used namebrand forged ones, not the 4g63T ones. Check www.dsmtuners.com and www.vfaq.com out to see if you can find anything.

And when you do, here is a great site to get some pistons and anything else DSM related.. http://www.eagleautomotivewarehouse....G63_Prices.htm

p.s. easy way to see what motor you have.... http://vfaq.com/mods/early-late-engine.html

Yes, they are compatible. However, 1G pistons will lower your compression more than just "a touch." The ratio is 9:1 vs. 7.8:1. If you don't feel like pulling the motor, just pull the head and put the Mitsu metal headgasket in to lower the compression a bit. Set up a mild water injection system for good measure.

True, but if he goes that far he might as well change the pistons and ecu to have it running right without tuning out the ass.

Well I boosted my car so I am lookin for a pretty dramatic drop in compression so that I can raise the boost, and maybe pick up a couple extra horses, I do have the 6 bolt 1g block, but now knowing that I can do the swap I will do it!
thanks
