overheating:please help!

my car is overheating. it has a new thermostat. put on a new radiator cap. i let air out from the bleeder screw. it is sill overheating. it only does it whn driving the car. i will watch the temperature guage start to rise, pull over to pop the hood and the overflow bottle has 2 to 3 times has much antifreeze. it is just bubbling away. please help!

Could be any number of things...did you completely drain the radiator or just top it off when you replaced the thermostat? Was there any oil in the antifreeze? If there's no oil in there, I'd start with a coolant flush. As old as your car is, there's a good likelyhood of there being quite a bit of build up in the system.

check if you leak any water on the driver side of your motor. if so, your water pump is bad

no water leaking

headgasket.

that is all.

ToyotaTechGeek 07-14-2003 05:51 AM

well, before you go headgasket, feel the hoses. make sure all of them are warm/hot. anyway, did you put the jiggle valve @ 2:30? did you open the heater core valve when you did all of the flush/fill/bleed work?

drifterJERRY 07-14-2003 06:34 AM

are the cooling fans working?
