NO Exhaust Work for Turbo?
Why is it that some shops are telling me to leave my stock piping on my 97 Talon? They say it comes stock with 2.25'' piping, and that 3'' would be too much. I have a t3/t4 turbo being installed with a 2.5'' downpipe, front mount intercooler, etc. Shouldn't I atleast go to 2.5''? Also, the shop says I have to get a custom exhaust b'c it's near impossible to get a pipe to bend for the eclipse. What's up? The exhaust system they offered was $650, can't I get one for $300? Keep in mind I'm keeping my stock muffler.

surely you want to go 2.5 all the way back, do not go smaller than the downpipe, 3" is not to much either. I would go to a few other shops if you havent already, and get other opinions on that nearly impossible theory.

@ LEAST 3 inches...ive read at least 5 reputable sources that say that. Sport compact car being one of them. I would get even as high as 3 and a quarter to compinsate for crush bends if you go to a local shop.

at least 3". downpipe and all. straight-through muffler. getting an exhaust system and putting the stock muffler back on is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard.

Reasoning
The reason why I chose to go with the stock muffler, is because with my last talon, I had an aftermarket muffler on and got 5 tickets in 7 months and I was only cruising around town, never getting on the accelerator. Plus, I read about the 4g63 turbo Hyundai in a magazine that used 3'' piping with a sebring muffler.
