Newbie...a little help?
What up everyone, just want to know if any of you smart guys can help me figure out what to do to my cavalier with 3.1 power. The engine has lots of torque and is still stock, I just want to do something to it to lower 1/4 times.
I thought about supercharging it but its so hard to find a company that makes a supercharger for the 3.1...the company that i knew of went out of business and I don't plan on trading it in any time soon, have you thought about it?
maybe do minor mods....
I/H/E....that will help alittle..
depending on how much your looking to drop your E/T
you can always do a custom turbo kit ..dependin on what kind of budget you have to work with.

I used to deal with these guys when I had an Alero.

Get a header for it, or look into having one made. Add a high-flow cat to that, then a decent cat-back system. The header collector, cat piping, and cat-back piping/muffler should be 2.5" (roughly) for a 3.1L.
An intake can be made for CHEAP, less than $100 if there's no kit out there. Then you can have your stock throttle body ported out. Also, take apart your intake manifold/s and have them smoothed and gasket matched or possibly extrude-honed.
You could probably find a new set of pistons, and if your lucky - rods, to up the compression for NA or lower it for forced induction. Have the crank knife-deged to reduce a little rotating mass. Then, balance the whole assembly.
Go on the hunt for some cams and anything else velvetrain related, but you'll have less luck there if you can't even find the common (i.e. headers) stuff for it.
Yeah I have 185 ft./lbs. of torque...naw dude I'll pass on buying a honda and if you gave me one I'd probably sell it...lol, j/k. Thanks for the link and the advice fellas...I really appreciate it. I'm kinda leaning towards doing a total rebuild with high performance parts and then swapping the engines and selling the one thats in the car now to help cover some of the costs.
