Default New engine wont start

Hey, I bought a new zc engine, cuz my other one was messed up. I am pretty sure this one is in good working order, but when I try to start it, all it does is turns over, but doesn't start, and when you get out, u can smell some gas, and some burned gas. Also when I hold the key in the start position, the turning over speeds up. Could it be my main relay? I have both the thermastat ground, and the ground on the clutch cable holder. It's an 88 crx DX, with the DOHC ZC engine. I am hoping the wiring is done right, I am gonna check that tonight. Any help is greatly appreciated, I have to store it soon, so I need it running ASAP.

Default update

Hey, I changed my fuel filter, because I had an extra new one from another car which is good, and has a fuel pressure guage on it. I also checked my spark, and every plug was good except # 4, so I am going to change that. I am not sure of how much gas in the car, so I am going to put some in tomorrow, any ideas of what it could be? How do you check to see if a relay is good or bad?

Did you check the plugs, or did you actually see if its getting spark?

We just had this problem and we triple chk'd all our wiring and it ended up being the DISTRIBUTOR was all wacked out. We changed it and it fired right up

Default hey

I actually checked to see if I was getting spark, I unscrewed them and laid them on my valve cover and watched it spark. Any ideas as to what I could do?

can you hear your fuel pump run when you turn the key? i assume since you have a pressure guage you'd see your getting pressure. did you have to change your main relay when you did the swap?
