Need p72 or Chipped P28 for troubleshooting
I have a 97 civic 4 door with a LS/Vtec swap in it.
Almost complete......It used to be an automatic LS/Vtec, I had enough money to get the swap done, I'm just too broke to spmlete everything.
Its funny how shitty this swap runs when your using a Automatic P75 ECU.
Oops.....any ways....If anyone local has a Chipped Manual P28 or a P72 GSR ECU I could drop in to test the car amd see if thats why its running so crappy.
If so I'll try to save up and by my own ECU.
thanks,
Russ

Re: Need p72 or Chipped P28 for troubleshooting
If the P75 you have is OBD1, it's very easy to convert that ECU to manual tranny, it doesn't have to be chipped or anything. There are jumpers that tell the ECU which parameters to use, so you just have to tell it you want it to use the manual parameters. Anyone who can solder can change the jumpers for you, there are only two things that have to be changed. The biggest problem you're probably having is that the ECU is not mapped for that head. I know the bottom end is the same but the VTEC heads flow very different and have different cam profiles, you that's probably your problem. Throw in some possible problems from not having the auto tranny lockup solenoids anymore, so the ECU gets a little freaked out, and I can understand not running very well..

yeah i think thats my problem.
Now all I need is to get my hands on the right ECU.

Chipped P28 is fine, you don't need the knock sensor or the secondary butterfly control on the P72, and P28s are cheaper. I guess that depends on what head you're using, do you have a B16 or GSR head?

My buddy has a chipped P28, in Virginia Beach. Where are you located? Here's his number 650-8709 and his name is Levi. He would probably let you do it.
