my d series build. help/suggestions
your stupid kid...im done helping you..sorry i have no patience....ok go buy a block guard i hope your shit cracks good luck though...oh yea go get it sleeved also and when you are there tell them you only plan to push 350 so someone can laugh in your face HAHAHAHA!
tell me next that arp's wont hold your power so you have to weld your block to your head lol gtfo..pour cement between sleeves and wall of motor that should definately hold your power lol
im stupid....maybe you should reread my original post, especially the last paragraph. maybe if you were smarter you would have caught that and actually comprehended and retained the information therein that paragraph
everyone has to learn. was just asking questions...
you sound really mature, how old are you? me...kid.
yep im 18.
in college
pay my moms bills ( shes disabled )
and my tuition
and all my bills
pretty sure i drive a nicer car than you.
i own two trucks, and my em1
im about to build a car from scratch
while still attending school, and paying for it
and im stupid...didnt get to this point in life by being "stupid" or selling drugs. so you tell me whats going on. all this with no family intervention?
my purpose for sleeves would be so i could make sure i could see high mileage out of the engine. not so i could make it through three runs at the track.
im building a dd if you didnt catch that either.
figured this thread would go to hell because *SOME* people on this site cant get over the fact that they know things others dont. not all. pretty sure im more educated than yourself, im just lacking experience in building an engine, and i plan to learn. even if i blow this engine to hell. ill get it right eventually.

For the price of sleeves and labor you could get really close to a B16. You're looking to throw a lot of money at a single cam that still won't have any power off-boost, which is what I don't understand. Lowering the compression on a single cam is just going to lower the (off-boost) power output even more, which is the wrong direction for a DD.
I'll always throw money at getting a better engine first instead of throwing reinforcement/upgrade parts money at the less capable engine I already have. I know you're only making a low power build, but you could pretty much run a stock B16 with a turbo at those power levels without any problems, or an LS with a small investment in parts..

well lets see..yea im stupid. i have a acura rl, ford explorer and 2 ef's i could give two shits what you think about me, oh guess what i also pay for my own college..i also plan to buy a new rl soon with cash.. i read all of your first post..to get this far in life i also had to comprehend a lot of things..and no i dont sell drugs either... you also can't succeed without retaining certain information, so i think i'm good at that too..since you have this money go to a shop and tell them what your plans are so they can charge and over charge you for shit you don't need. i know everyone has to learn, i was just trying to help you with your build..don't assume that you are more educated than me, you don't even know me..i don't know everything about motors either but what i do know is that you don't need to sleeve your d series for ~300hp
so much hate...
dude, im attempting the same thing with my d16a6... stock sleeves are fine, and if you're aiming for a reliable DD with anything above 180whp you're gonna need stronger rods... I have a T3, and judging by the compressor map, if i had stronger rods i would hit ~250whp @ 15psi (.60 AR)
so you might need something a little bigger if you want ~300horsetorques :P
what about acl bearings?
oil lines
tuning
injectors
im just listing necessities that can add up to alot extra... there's more stuff that goes into it than just the engine itself! hehe...

i tried to tell him that he doesn't need to sleeve it but he wants to so let him. im not hating i was just trying to help but obviously my help is of no worth to him sooooo.......
And a manifold. A nice cast one that will last a long time under daily use.
And an intercooler.
And piping.
And a big exhaust.
And maybe some axles.
And a BOV.

no sleeves are needed and if you are doing a budget build do b7 with a6 cam b7 has better r/s ratio than the 1.6. if u wanna spend money order a bisi cam. vitaras and eagles rods are good theres also a guy selling a supra pistons on b16 rods for a sohc. check d-series.org for more info on boostin your d. good luck with build. gotta love the SOHC
