my mechanic just replaced my wifes heater core. it broke because of bad motor mounts. it leaked fluid onto the passenger floor. check that out and see if that helps...good luck

yeah check the heater core for a blockage. that would do it. as for the oil, start checking the motor over good with a flashlight. chances are you've got a bad gasket somewhere that is letting oil out. probably the back of teh valve cover or maybe the o-ring on the oil filter is bad? that's something you're just going to have to get under the car for and start looking for oil residue.

Re: my car has no heat/burning oil.
the air at my feet is warmer than the air coming out of the upper vents. but just like anything else, 34* is warmer than 32*, but its still not warm. ill check the core for a blockage.
as far as the oil is concerned, the only place i noticed as being darker than normal is from the back of the valve cover like you stated. but it doesnt look nearly as bad as 2-3 quarts of oil leaking. but ill double check and get a new valve cover gasket asap.
keep the suggestions coming.

Re: my car has no heat/burning oil.
Pull your glove box off and follow your cable from the climate control to the heater core. It should connect to another level on the heater core, make sure that is still connected. Also check inder the hood and you will see smaller hoses that run into the car, one will have a valve type of thingy on it. There should be a cable running to that also, make sure that is still on and it is still opening and closing. If the heater core was bad, you should get radiator fluid leaking on the passanger side floorboard.
