Default Still need help from Motor question for all the Gurus

i got a b16 turbo 93 civic coupe the speedometer doesnt work and i checked the speedometer its fine and swapped the vss with a good one and it still does the same shit it causing vtec not to work and seems to be fucking up major shit it starts detonating ( i think its detonating) at like 5200 rpms on the dot eveytime HELP ME I NEED IT!

Unplug/disconnect the Vss from the speedo if you can, your speedo might be corrupting the signal and causing the ECU to mess up. Leave the Vss connected to the ECU, and see if the speedo is where the problem is.. You'll prob need a factory manual to figure out where to do that..

probably not detonate, but it may cause it to do some other funny things. There are a bunch of functions in the ECU's program that have to do with the Vss. You may be hearing or feeling something strange having to do with engaging and disengaging VTEC rapidly. Who knows what that would do, the ECU has a good bit of control over how your engine runs, and can make changes faster than your engine can mechanically respond (except for the knock sensor, which samples/averages and takes a while). Anyway, the Vss could cause few problems. My advice would be to not go into VTEC territory until you've done more troubleshooting, as long as the engine is running OK at the moment, so you don't do any more unknown possible damage that you can avoid..
