Default Minimum speed for airbag deployment?

Is there one? My thought was there isn't and from a google search that reinforced my thought. Is there any reason why one wouldn't go off in a heavy rear end collision combined with a front end collision?

Thanks homies.

Depends on the impact and the car, but I think the slowest is 8mph if my memory serves. Oh, and rear impacts aren't supposed to set off airbags.

My mom said the person didn't slow down at all and it was a 45mph zone.

Yeah, read my edit. I think I read that some cars are now having the airbags deploy at very high speeds from rear impacts, but I'm not sure about that. Normally they don't though.

Honestly, someone at her insurance company should know. Experts are always testifying about this.

From what I have always learned is that there are impact sensors that go off at a certain level of impact.

what happened shawn...

the module is in the center on most cars...it is a steel ball that activates a trigger when it comes to a complete sudden stop...that triggers the bags...

the rear end collison would not make the bags deploy...now if she hit the car in front of her then the two combined may have semi cancelled each other out...

i have seen it happen many of times...

She was at a stop light with an suv in front of her and a fender bender on the other side of the road. Some sort of van was rubber necking like dumb bitches do and didnt even look towards my moms car, she was looking at her in her rear view lol. Van slams into her and wedges her under the SUV. Im assuming her car will be totaled since it is at a junkyard off of pughesville road. Im gonna check it out tomorrow and take pics.
