maintenance required.
for a 96 civic.
does anyone pay attention to the maintenance required light, which on my car, is now red? i cant imagine there would be much else required to fix or replace considering ive had my timing belt, ac belt, plugs and wires, air filter, etc replaced in the 8 months that ive had the car. so, my question is, should i ignore it, or take it in somewhere?

erase the code...it usually keeps track of the little things..there should either be a button underneath the drivers underside dash panel that youll need to hold in and turn the secondary ignition on or it should be in your manual how to erase it, on your i think you have to put the key in the ignition and press the button next to it, maybe that was on the year before yours, it should be in your manual how to erase it, but the service writers usually wont tell you that........
Try this...
1) Put the key in the ignition without turning.
2) Press and hold the odomoter reset button.
3) Turn the ignition key to the on position without starting the car, continuing to hold the reset button.
4) Hold the reset button until the light goes out - approx. 10 seconds.

Stick yur ignition key in the slot next to it. It will flip back to green. That thing changes color with the mileage corresponding with the maintence suggested for that time period in your manual.
