Brake/shifter inter-lock cable problem maybe? I've had to replace those on cars before because the mechanism either wears out or breaks and wont let the shifter move even with the brake depressed.

mr.2 can exlpain better than i, but there is this piece under the shifter that wasnt moving and i have to move it manually to then be able to shift. but im still havein some sort of electrical shorts cuz alot of my displays (o.d., trac control) are comming on and off. but i was at least able to get the car outta where it was! bitch is gettin redone from the ground up thanx for everyones help.

isnt there a pin on the inside of the knob that is pushed in when you push the button on the side of the shifter knob in? i know i had that break on an old car of mine and it wouldnt stay in any gear....maybe something like that it keeping you from being able to get it into/out of gear?
