intake manifold removal
ok. i have a b16 crx. yesterday i pulled the head apart to take it off and get the valves replaced. i didnt get completly finished becausemy 14mm socket stripped out while breaking the headbolts. so this morning i got a new socket from a friend whos manager up at b&l automotive on jefferson, come home, get everything done and pulled apart, and then remember shit.. i need to take off the intake manifold. which is easier, disconnecting everything (sensors, plugs, tubes, throttle cable, etc..) from the intake mani and then pulling the manifold off with it, or disconnecting the whole manifold from the head? and is either possible without lifting the car up? its currently sitting in my backyard on wet ground where i dont feel too comfortable putting it up in there air. anyone who can help me please post...
pull the manifold off w/ the head......there are a couple bolts that are going to be a bitch to get off with it on the head on the rest of the motor still...you dont have to jack up the car, but it's gonna be kinda hard to unbolt the brace that bolts from the bottom of the manifold to the block w/out getting under the car...
yeah thats the problem i have with taking the manifold off with the head, is that triangular brace. argh... if i didnt hafta work today it wouldnt be so bad, but now it gets to sit until tomarrow morn
yeah i agree.. the brace isn't that bad and i never put them back either. and all the braces i have taken off i have never had to do it from the bottom of the car. but to each there own.
