im no honda boy but im assuming that "cap" on the vtec solenoid is held on by a c-clip of some kind? Probably what one of those dumbasses broke.

If there already was a functional LS/VTEC swap in the car, and everything worked, I don't know what would be missing unless there is something missing from that B16. The only difference between the two (assuming they are complete engines) is the knock sensor on the B16. Can you post a picture of where the part is missing? This is practically impossible without knowing the whole story.

They probably broke a clip for the wiring.

VTEC spool valves have no plastic on them minis the sensors. It's hard to help you if you don't help us.

If his cousin is doing the swap, get in touch with him. Your husband won't know if you go about it the right way. It's the best solution because you'll find out exactly what you need, and then you just have to go find it.
