i need brakes help
Update 9/27: i dove the car around the block yesterday after i replaced the lines(again) and everything seemed fine. so i decided to drive the car from my parents house to my gargae about a mile away today. about half way there BOTH front brakes start dragging hard enough to slow the car to a stop every time the clutch is pressed in. you could instantly smell them burning and after we stopped the lugnuts where hot enough to seriously burn you
i will be replacing the prop valve with a used one that i have just because its literally the only thing left...
ok so my 91 civic had a few brake issues that i needed to work out; a leaking booster and master, and the drivers front was dragging the rotor and was very hard to turn by hand.
i decided to just go ahead and overhaul the whole system, seeing as its a 19 year old car. the problem is that even with all of the other issues fixed the left front is still dragging hard.
i have replaced:
brake booster
master cylinder
all hard lines
both front hoses
both front calipers
both front rotors
and pads
i have done more of these jobs than i can remember but i'm stumped. it may be something stupid that im not thinking about... if anybody has an idea please help me out
thanks
~Josh
edit: i have tried 3 different new calipers, 3 different sets of pads, and even after checking for warp(none) switched out to a different new rotor just to see... nothing
and it Doesn't drag with out the pads installed

Re: i need brakes help
are you sure its the pads? it could be a wheel bearing going bad making it appear like the brakes are dragging.

Re: i need brakes help
its not the wheel bearing, there is no play in it. also it not like a bad bearing or warped rotor where it drags at different points in its rotation... it drags all the time, through the full turn.

Is the upright bent where the caliper attaches?
Oh, and does that car have ABS?

Try takin your foot off the brake pedal? lol
On a more serious note it sounds like a caliper issue... More times than not, its the caliper...

A bad bearing wouldn't have any play in it if it is seizing up.... And it would drag at all times. I'd be willing to put money on it being a bearing issue.

Re: i need brakes help
the tab on the knuckle may be bent where the caliper bracket mounts. is it on one side only?

Re: i need brakes help
We've put 3 different new calipers on it just to see if that was the issue... It rubbed the same no matter what
