Default honda help PLEASE

hey guys, need a little advise. my jdm b18C coolent system is acting up a bit. I thought it was the thermostate but i replaced that today (with a pep boys knock off part, which looked different than the part i extracted) and now the car stays within the temp it should for the most part, however at the point that the fan should cut on its not cutting on...? which if the car is sitting still over extended time allows it to overheat. maybe i should of just got the oem part? does that little button thing on the top of the thermostat sent a signal to the fan at a certain temp?

there is a temp sensor for the fan that tells the fan when to cut on. it's the brown plug that goes into the thermo housing that has the two outlets.

No shit, that doesnt turn it off. It closes the gap so that it will always run the fan so long as your car is in the accessory position and running power to everything. It'll shut off when you turn the key to the off position.
