OP, I had the same thing happen when I used the axles that were original to the Y7 on my 96 hatch and I put in a Y8. I asked for a longer replacement axle

i havent took it out of my car yet so dont no y its doin it i have si axles in my car now brand new juss bought them and i didnt buy new half shaft is the c clip in the axle or on the half shaft ???
