is there a difference between 96-98 obd2a bseries distributor plugs and 99-00 obd2b distributor plugs?

Nope 96-00 is the same. There are 5 types of distributors those years though so be careful.

Look for the OE numbers stamped on the side of your original one. Should be on of the following.

TD73U
TD80U
TD81U
TD98U
or
D4T94-05

im just asking because i plan on going bseries really soon and i noticed today on my 99 ex that the dizzy plug is a lot different on my car then my friends 2000 si

Yup. Check the OE numbers on his vs yours. They will be diffrent.

the guts internally on the B/D series distributors are all the same, the only differences are the housings and the plugs.
